Coaching philosophy
Positivity. Passion. Practice.
Three words sit behind every session I run. They shape how I talk to players, how I plan their development and how we measure progress together.
Positivity.
Players improve fastest when they enjoy the board. I focus on what you do well, build on it, and make sure every session ends with you throwing better than when you started.
Passion.
I love this game, and that comes across at the oche. Coaching is about lighting that same spark in you, whether you are picking up darts for the first time or chasing a place in your league side.
Practice.
Throwing for hours is not the same as practising well. You will leave every session with a clear, structured routine that turns your time at the board into real progress.
A games-led approach
Learn the game by playing the game.
Match darts is about decisions under pressure. Repetitive drills on their own rarely prepare you for that. So instead of endless treble-20 practice, my sessions are built around games and challenges that recreate what happens in a real leg.
Games give every dart a purpose and a score. You get instant feedback, you learn to handle pressure, and you build your checkout knowledge without it ever feeling like homework.
The technical coaching sits inside the games. When something in your throw needs work, we break it down, fix it, then put it straight back into a game so it holds up when it matters.
- Round the ClockAccuracy and rhythmHit every number from 1 to 20 in order, then the bull.
- Halve ItPressure and consistencyEach round has a target. Miss it with all three darts and your score is cut in half.
- Checkout laddersFinishing and mathsWork through set finishes, stepping up each time you check out.
- CricketTactics and target choiceClose numbers before your opponent and decide when to attack or defend.
Structured development
The PDPA Single to 180 pathway
I coach using the PDPA's Single to 180 pathway, a structured framework for player development. It gives us a clear picture of where your game is today, what to work on next and how to measure your progress over time.
One-to-one sessions
Every part of your game, covered.
Each session is built around you. We look at your whole game and you leave with clear pointers and a practice plan to take back to the board.

About Mark
Coaching people to perform at their best.
I'm Mark Adams, an official PDPA licensed darts coach. Originally from London, I'm now based in Surrey, where I coach players in person, as well as online across the UK.
I'm also a highly qualified, award-winning sports coach, and for my whole career I've worked as a high-level talent manager, helping people perform at their best when the pressure is on. I bring both to the oche: good technique, and the confidence and routines to deliver it when it counts.
Everything I do comes back to Positivity, Passion and Practice. Sessions are encouraging, they are fun, and they are built around games that make you a better player. I'm DBS checked, and I coach players of every level, from complete beginners to league regulars.
